RULES
- Curling Canada’s official rules are in play unless specified below in this document. We play for fun and for leisure so, let’s use our best judgment.
- SCHEDULE: Alternate schedule has been voted to have a fair system for all players. Season starts September 27, 2023, as Division A will start at 18 h 15 and Division B will start at 20 h 30. Schedule is available on the website.
- TEAM FORMAT: Open to all men and women and order of play is decided by the captain. The league is composed of 16 teams with 2 divisions.
- STANDINGS: Last season’s round 3 results will be used to determine in which division teams are playing to start the season. The top 8 teams start in Division A and remaining teams start in Division B for the first round. New teams start automatically in Division B.
- SCORING: 2 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. The winning team’s captain is responsible for entering the results on the website within 24 hours after the game played. Final scores must be sent by email to[email protected] hat will be tracked in case of tie breakers.
- CANCELLED GAMES: The coordinator must be advised if a game can’t be played. The team has 7 days after the cancelled game to reschedule and play. If the coordinator is not advised of the cancelled game, each team will be awarded 0 points.
- TIME OF PLAY: NEW! The clock will now ring 15 minutes before the 2-hour game time allocation. When the clock rings, you must finish the end you’re currently playing, and you are NOT allowed to start a new end. Exception to this rule: Games that start at 20 h 30 or there is no scheduled game after, you are entitled to complete your game of 8 ends. At all times, you must respect the group after you and the ice technician.
- SLOW PLAY: Captains are responsible for making sure that the game is played within the allocated time. Captains are responsible to make sure that their players are ready to throw their rocks on time. If a player takes more than 3 minutes to throw their rock, the other captain may give a verbal warning and if the situation happens again, a burned rock may be given as a penalty. Judgment and common sense is recommended when applying this rule.
- SPARES: The player who will miss the game must advise his captain and find a replacement unless the captain takes over this responsibility. NEW! Spares are now eligible to play any positions during the game. Spares must pay a 10 $ fee but it has been voted by the Board of Directors that there will no longer be any verification or harassment by a member of the board or any member of the club. Payment is based on the honor system. The following priority system must be used to replace a player:
- A player that is on Bye (if applicable)
- A spare listed on our website
- An Active member
- A Non-member
- TEAM MOVEMENT: After each round, the bottom 2 teams of Division A will move down to Division B and the top 2 teams of Division B will move up to the Division A for the next round. The result of the 3rd round will determine the standing for the playoffs and for the next season 2024-2025.
- TIE BREAKING: Only teams that have the possibility to move division will be calculated. If there is a tie between 2 teams in the same division, the winning team for the game played between them will be used. If 3 teams are tied, the same method will be used. If we still have a tie, the point difference will be used (Points for minus points against).
- PRACTICE: Practice before the 18 h 15 game is not permitted unless you play in a league as a regular member of a spare.
- PLAYOFFS: The format will be the following. There will be 4 sub-divisions. Each division A and B will be split in 2 divisions after the results of Round 3.
